Life does not always go according to plan does it? There seems to be so much stress and things that are beyond our control. What makes us sad or stresses us out is different for everyone. For some it’s bills or work, for others it’s a bad relationship or illness. I imagine there are some people who could write a 20 page list on the way life has screwed them. Personally I have done that. So how in a world full of hurt, drama and stress do you stay positive? How do we keep from going off the deep end? Well, there are six things you can do right now to improve your mood and regain some much-needed happiness.
Laugh Hard
Find anything you can to laugh at. It is hard to be sad when you are laughing. Find a funny video, watch a comedy. Go people watching at Walmart? Find the humor in a bad situation. When you lose your ability to laugh you lose hope.
Love Something or Someone
Really love it. Have passion for it! It doesn’t matter what as long as it matters to you. It is hard to be angry or miserable when you are focused on love. When we send the vibe of love out to the world it makes the bad stuff in life easier to swallow.
Live In The Moment
Yes we all have responsibilities and to some degree we must all think ahead. However you can live in the moment by being grateful for today. You can take a risk. Look, none of us are promised tomorrow right. Aerosmith said “life’s a journey not a destination” It’s true! If you are spending all your time looking ahead you are missing all the best parts of the trip and you learn nothing.
Give To Someone
Give whatever and whenever you can .I have NEVER felt bad when I was giving to others from my heart. Give you time, give your kindness. Give 5 dollars to the women in front of you in the grocery store who is short .You never know you could change someone’s life in 10 second with the act of giving. The act of giving to others is like food for your soul. It will bring you joy and you will become addicted to that feeling.
Have a Higher Power
No matter what your background, belief system or religion. Have a higher power. You have to believe in something bigger than yourself. It allows you to surrender and lay your troubles down. Something’s are simply out of our control. Accepting that can bring serenity and comfort. When you feel calm and at peace it is easy to feel happy. It is also easier to see are problems more clearly leading to a better solution.

Some days my life looks like a train wreck. I often struggle to keep myself from rolling off the rails. I think we have to remind ourselves and each other of what is important.
