Can Coffee Expand your Mind?

In poetry, Uncategorized on May 29, 2014 at 3:45 pm

Good Morning

Some days I have to remind myself to breathe and be thankful. That is easier sad then done when you feel like you live in complete and total chaos. I am not always successful and I imagine you are not as well. If you are, please let me know how that is done. I am however on occasion prone to rare moments of insight. When that happens I hold on to it like the holy grail. I write down so that when I forget I can come back and try remember and re apply. It is amazing what one good cup of coffee can do isn’t it? Yes, all of this from a cup of coffee! What moments put it all in perspective for you? How do all of you deal with the chaos of life?

I’d love to hear from you all so please leave me a comment. Grab yourself a cup of Joe and enjoy!

 GRATITUDE FOR SPRING

The house still and silent, clam and serene.

You, still in your slippers and robe alone with you thoughts.

The house fills with the smell of fresh brewed coffee.

The scent of flowers drifting trough your open kitchen window.

You can feel the mild chill of the early morning air and it feels good against your skin.

Your lights are still dim, no cell phone ringing, no children screaming.

There is only the faint sounds of nature and the singing robin perched on the wire outside.

You take a sip of your coffee enjoying the complexity of the flavors and the peace and tranquility in the stillness

You mind is at peace, no racing thoughts or to do list in sight.

There are no bosses or husbands to answer to, no barrage of people pulling in a hundred directions .

You are free from makeup and image, away from the judging eyes of society and from those looking desperately for you flaws.

These are the hours of the day when we are the most authentic versions of our self and as God intended.

These are the moments that while brief, provide a glimpse behind the veil.

This is the space where gratitude and simplicity live and if only for a brief shining moment we are filled with its light.

Engulfed in its warmth as if embraced by God we find the strength to start the day

We sally forth in to harsh reality’s, armed with grace, filled with light and surrounded by peace.

With silent gratitude for this spring day.

BE INDEPENDENT

In Uncategorized on May 8, 2014 at 6:05 pm

Every so often I write something that surprises even me. It’s not that I think it’s great or even good. I am surprised because I have no idea where it came from. It started out as simple word play to amuse myself. I wasn’t feeling inspired or thinking of anyone in particular. I honestly don’t think I was thinking at all. I suppose something’s are just self-propelled and need no motivation. I love it when that happens!

MILITANT Me

A life filled with separation, degradation and miscommunication
Many fake smiles and lies to hide the pain, just to protect a good reputation.
Quick with my answers for other people’s interrogations.
I keep looking for the exit but I am running out of patience.
Sick from what I’ve allowed you to do, I seek retaliation
Your love was nothing more than a continuous fabrication
I am only of guilty bad choices and bad associations.
Painful lessons learned, what a hard education
This relationship had died, there will be no resuscitation
This has not been a life it has been my incarceration
I will cut you off you will be an amputation.
Therapeutic rehabilitation is need for my transformation
These will be my last words to you
You get not further explanations
I’m done, it’s over, this is finished there will be no more hesitation
Take notice all you people
This has been my emancipation!

THERE IS HOPE

In Uncategorized on May 7, 2014 at 6:41 pm

My life right now is kind of crazy. Some days it is hard to feel inspired let alone write. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis, COPD, Anxiety and a chronic back problem. My Mom died this February. My Sister was diagnosed with stage 3 Lung cancer two days after my Mom died. In March I was informed that my family would have to Move this summer. My Finical situation, well let’s say there isn’t a word clean enough to describe it. Every day is a struggle. Sometimes I struggle to write this blog.
I am not telling you this so you will feel sorry for me. I don’t feel sorry for me. Neither should you. In fact, I feel hopeful. So why am I telling you my personal problems? This by the way is really hard for me. I do it because I want you to know I am a real person behind the computer. I am flawed. I have problems. I have set backs. I am you! No better, no worse just real. There is No poem or story today just these three thoughts that I hope you remember:
Dreams are nothing more than a goal that has yet to be reached.
As long as you can dream you still have hope.
Reality is always subjective.

Thanks for stopping by and listing today

HOW DO BAD PEOPLE AFFECT YOUR LIFE?

In poetry on May 6, 2014 at 6:00 pm

We all have had someone in life that has treated us badly. It might have been a friend or lover or even a parent Bad people are inevitable in life. I have met a few in my life. The great thing is you get to choose how they will Affect who you become. To grow from pain is hard. Believe me I know. It is however necessary. If you don’t they win! I wish you all the best life possible, and thank you for reading my creative ramblings!

STILL HERE

Thank you for all the times you pushed me down.
You taught me how to pull myself back up.
Thank you for all the days you stabbed me in the back.
I learned how to always check behind me.
Thank for the months of dragging me through the mud.
Now I don’t mind getting dirty.
Thank you for being dishonest and mean.
Ii made me appreciate those who are not.
Thank for the hard lesson learned.
I am better, wiser, and more compassionate because of it.
You see I walk with my head held high.
I walk with truth, honor and strength at my side.
I not only survived I thrived.
I live each day as if it were my last.
I live in the present, but haven’t forgotten my past.
It’s a hard may to learn how to really be alive.
I didn’t survive in spite of you, Because of you I thrived!

6 WAYS TO BE HAPPY

In Uncategorized on May 4, 2014 at 2:19 am

Life does not always go according to plan does it? There seems to be so much stress and things that are beyond our control. What makes us sad or stresses us out is different for everyone. For some it’s bills or work, for others it’s a bad relationship or illness. I imagine there are some people who could write a 20 page list on the way life has screwed them. Personally I have done that. So how in a world full of hurt, drama and stress do you stay positive? How do we keep from going off the deep end? Well, there are six things you can do right now to improve your mood and regain some much-needed happiness.

Laugh Hard
Find anything you can to laugh at. It is hard to be sad when you are laughing. Find a funny video, watch a comedy. Go people watching at Walmart? Find the humor in a bad situation. When you lose your ability to laugh you lose hope.

Love Something or Someone
Really love it. Have passion for it! It doesn’t matter what as long as it matters to you. It is hard to be angry or miserable when you are focused on love. When we send the vibe of love out to the world it makes the bad stuff in life easier to swallow.

Live In The Moment
Yes we all have responsibilities and to some degree we must all think ahead. However you can live in the moment by being grateful for today. You can take a risk. Look, none of us are promised tomorrow right. Aerosmith said “life’s a journey not a destination” It’s true! If you are spending all your time looking ahead you are missing all the best parts of the trip and you learn nothing.

Give To Someone
Give whatever and whenever you can .I have NEVER felt bad when I was giving to others from my heart. Give you time, give your kindness. Give 5 dollars to the women in front of you in the grocery store who is short .You never know you could change someone’s life in 10 second with the act of giving. The act of giving to others is like food for your soul. It will bring you joy and you will become addicted to that feeling.

Have a Higher Power
No matter what your background, belief system or religion. Have a higher power. You have to believe in something bigger than yourself. It allows you to surrender and lay your troubles down. Something’s are simply out of our control. Accepting that can bring serenity and comfort. When you feel calm and at peace it is easy to feel happy. It is also easier to see are problems more clearly leading to a better solution.

Read 1-5 and Practice Daily!

I hope the best life possible to all of you that read this. I know that the times we live in make it hard someday to even breathe. I am no different from anyone else. Some days my life looks like a train wreck. I often struggle to keep myself from rolling off the rails. I think we have to remind ourselves and each other of what is important. Happy people spread happiness. Be well and always pay it forward.

Have a great weekend

Reality

In poetry, Uncategorized on July 1, 2013 at 5:19 pm

How dark the day seems when I step onto my porch. The world, despite the sunlight seems twisted, lacking humanity. I try to feel the sun on my face and bask in its warmth. I see my neighbors, who seem blissfully unaware of the horrors that happen so close to home. In this world reality is far darker and sicker than any story I could write. There is so much anger and hatred in people’s hearts.  There are So many despicable human beings. Their acts of violence and degradation make them more monster than man. Greed and money have become there Gods. Our world is overrun with hunger, mental illness, sadness and unspeakable pain. I think why would anyone want to stay in this dismal reality? You could fight for change. Knowing all the while you cannot change the evil in the hearts of mankind, nor can you give salvation to the soulless.

I long to live in that place between awake and a dream. That place in your higher consciousness. It is there that that you can see over the sludge of the world. You can see the universe as it was intended to be seen, surrounded with life and light in the inner sanctum. Could it be the reason reality hurts is because we are living the wrong reality? Why have only a very enlightened few learned the secret we don’t know? I pray not for money or more material items. What true happiness can that possible bring?  I pray for a universal consciousness.  I pray for a reality in which truth and goodness flows like a crystal blue stream. I wish to live in the inner sanctum and for all to be embraced and surrounded by its light, warmth and love.
