DOMESTIC ABUSE IS NOT OK!

In poetry, Uncategorized on July 15, 2014 at 1:15 am

abuseDomestic abuse comes in many forms. There is Physical. Emotional, verbal, sexual and financial abuse. It is about control and power, not love. No matter what they tell you know this: It’s is not your fault. You have done nothing to deserve it. You are worthy of love and you deserve respect. They have the problem not you! You don’t have to be a victim. Two  women a week are killed as a result of domestic abuse in the US alone. You don’t have to die! You can get out and get help. Follow the thinks at the bottom of the page

Hitting, pushing, slapping, unwanted or forced  sex, taking your money or not allowing you to work, making it difficult to work, degrading you, making you feel worthless, screaming at you all the time, threatening to take you kids . These are some examples of abuse. If this is happening to you or someone you love get help now. Find out how to get out safe. Again click on the links at the bottom of the page for more info.

THE FACE OF EVIL
There are dark souls in the world whose purpose is to cause chaos and destroy. Yes there is evil in this world, but it comes not in the form of the devil but from the hearts of men. The weak are swallowed up into the mouth of madness, only to be spit out to do evils bidding. With clenched fist they strike the pure souls and beat them down and leave them bleeding on the floor. Yes there is evil in the world and it walks among us on two legs. You would not know them upon site for the hide it well. The ugliness hides inside, veiled by a brilliant smile and charm. With easy strides they walk, always looking, always watching and always waiting. They are the controllers and the manipulators and speak with the voice of angles but use the devils tongue. Lies are part of the seduction. Their only goal is to possess and control and to force their will upon the meek and mild, those who are pure in heart and soul. Yes evil exist in the world but no demon or witch was ever so great as the evil of man. Yes there is evil. We see it and turn a blind eye. We pretend it doesn’t happen close to home. We make it all too easy for it to exist and grow. We always hiding behind the words, “it’s none of my business” Yes evil exist, while children hide in closets and hold their breath while praying for deliverance. Evil breeds like a parasite, infecting and destroying till it kills. Evil grows stronger with every tear, every bruise and every word dripping with disdain. Yes Evil does exist, in all communities, black and white, gay or straight, rich and poor. Evil does not discriminate. Yes evil is here and it hides in plain sight. Evil destroys children, families, men and women alike. Evil will persist unless we all stand to fight for what’s good and what is right. Yes evil exist and it thrives and blossoms every day and every night. It survives by our fear to speak and our silent shame. Yes evil exists when for our  inaction we make an excuse. Yes evil exist in every  case of domestic abuse!

LOVE YOUR CURVES

In Uncategorized on July 8, 2014 at 6:39 pm

curvy

Everyday women all over are bombarded with the media version of the perfect female body. We see in on our favorite TV shows and in magazines. last night I was watching a Criminal Minds marathon with my husband. Every other commercial was a diet commercial , Jenny Craig, lypozene, hydroxycut. In between was the olive garden commercial.crazy right? Advertisers aren’t crazy they want you to eat and gain weight, that way they can make you feel bad about yourself and you then buy their product to make you thin.Smart for them, sad for us because we often buy the BS they are selling.

I personally have struggled with my weight most of my life. I have been a size 2 and a size 15 and everything in between. Even at my smallest I was a curvy girl. You would not see my rather larger Italian backside or any like it on the cover of vogue. I am thick! My thighs touch, I have curvy hips. I now wear a size 12-13 depending on where I shop. I wear an XL shirt and I have cleavage and I am completely happy with that! Thin or thick you should happy with yourself!

It took me a very long time to get to this place. I am perfect the way that I am and so are you! let your Doctor decide if you need to lose weight not the media or anyone else for that matter. This is only my humble opinion but get out there and live.If you want that dessert at your next Bar B Q eat it. Go out dancing let what ya got giggle a bit. Who cares what others think. Go to the beach and don’t feel bad about how you look in your bathing suit. If you keep trying to be like someone else you will never get to know how wonderful you are.You will be existing but not living.

Please share this with one other female in your life.

I am going to leave you with this video. It has exploded all over the web and for a good reason.
Enjoy it and shake what your mama gave ya!

DO YOU REALLY LOVE YOUR KIDS?

In poetry, Uncategorized on May 9, 2014 at 7:48 pm

The answer to the title question for me is: YES!

I was trying to clean up my office a bit today and thin out some clutter. So I went throw my files. For me files are just organized clutter. I have to go through them every few months and thin them out. I’m sure some of you know what I mean when I say it is Dis organized organization. I keep almost every poem I have ever written. I even keep all of my old diaries. Now I have a short attention span, so when I found these I became side tracked. All three poems are about 11 or 20 years old. (Spoiler alert) I am old. These poems are in original form (1st Draft) with only basic spell check. I left them that way because it was exactly how I felt at that moment in time. They were not written for publication but for my family so please keep that in mind when reading.
I would love to hear how you all feel about being a Mom. How do you see your own Mother? Please share your thoughts, memories or motherhood moments with me in the comment section. I will do my best to respond. I look forward to hearing from you. Wishing you all a wonderful Mother”s day

Just Like Me

Dark hair, Dark eyes and a smile just like mine.
You have those pouty lips that button nose and mesmerizing eyes.
I held my breath till you drew you first, the silence broken by your precious cry.
They walked you over a placed your tiny body upon my chest.
I felt our hearts beating inscync as we closed are eyes to rest.
Your smell was so sweet, such a feeling of peace holding you for the first time.
What a gift from to receive, what blessing from God to know you were all mine
Looking at you mirroring me, you have touched my very soul.
You are the special light from within me that now shines.
You’re my angel of hope, my gift of love.
Dark hair, Dark eyes and a smile just like mine

MY Evening Prayer

You were born in the evening and entered the world with a cry.
With lips like your mother, and your daddy’s beautiful blue eyes.
So much love for you I felt as I touched your new born skin
My love for you now grows, as every new day begins.
You are growing up to be a man now but you are still my baby boy.
You fill my heart with pride. You bring me so much joy
I pray you will always be happy though adversity you will face
As I watch you lay sleeping I hope that all your dreams come to
I say a prayer of thankfulness that God chose me as a mother for you.

A Mother’s Love

A Mothers love is different than any love I have seen.
It can heal the deepest wounds, make us laugh and chase Monsters unseen.
A mother’s love is the strongest love I have ever known.
It makes you grow up tall and proud.
It will never lest you go.
A mother’s love is tender and when needed it can be tough.
A mothers love rejoices in your finest moments and carries you when time a rough.
A mothers love pushes you to be the very best that you can be.
A mother’s love is what teaches you what a good parent ought to be
A mother’s love is deep, unwavering and true
It was a mother’s love that made the very best in you.

SOMETHING ALL SINGLE MOMS SHOULD KNOW!

In poetry on May 5, 2014 at 8:39 pm

This poem is for every mother out there who had to go it alone. I know from personal experience how hard it can be. It can be lonely and frustrating. Maybe you have been going through it for a long time. Maybe you are just starting. Know this, what you do matters! It is one of the most important things you will ever do or be. Always remember that you are raising boys to become Good, respectful men and future Fathers and little girls to become Strong, independent loving future Mothers. People do see your worth. Stay strong.

Single Mom, working Mom, doing it all by herself Mom.
You do all the work and get none of the glory.
There are too many restless nights spent worrying how to make ends meet
There are too many days wasted in court chasing down a deadbeat.
You play both roles, both Dad and Mom.
You are the hero that too often goes unsung.
To me you are the example of strength and perseverance.
To your children you are simple Mom.
You often sacrifice your wants and needs.
You do it without hesitation and never let you children see.
It seems like a thankless job, and most days it is.
But here you are pushing on, doing what’s best for your kids.
Do not be disheartened for you will get your due.
Your children will one day be something and the thanks will go to you
Your child will stand on the stage someday with their Diploma in hand.
He will say it with his smile. I love you, thanks for being both Mom and Dad

6 WAYS TO BE HAPPY

In Uncategorized on May 4, 2014 at 2:19 am

Life does not always go according to plan does it? There seems to be so much stress and things that are beyond our control. What makes us sad or stresses us out is different for everyone. For some it’s bills or work, for others it’s a bad relationship or illness. I imagine there are some people who could write a 20 page list on the way life has screwed them. Personally I have done that. So how in a world full of hurt, drama and stress do you stay positive? How do we keep from going off the deep end? Well, there are six things you can do right now to improve your mood and regain some much-needed happiness.

Laugh Hard
Find anything you can to laugh at. It is hard to be sad when you are laughing. Find a funny video, watch a comedy. Go people watching at Walmart? Find the humor in a bad situation. When you lose your ability to laugh you lose hope.

Love Something or Someone
Really love it. Have passion for it! It doesn’t matter what as long as it matters to you. It is hard to be angry or miserable when you are focused on love. When we send the vibe of love out to the world it makes the bad stuff in life easier to swallow.

Live In The Moment
Yes we all have responsibilities and to some degree we must all think ahead. However you can live in the moment by being grateful for today. You can take a risk. Look, none of us are promised tomorrow right. Aerosmith said “life’s a journey not a destination” It’s true! If you are spending all your time looking ahead you are missing all the best parts of the trip and you learn nothing.

Give To Someone
Give whatever and whenever you can .I have NEVER felt bad when I was giving to others from my heart. Give you time, give your kindness. Give 5 dollars to the women in front of you in the grocery store who is short .You never know you could change someone’s life in 10 second with the act of giving. The act of giving to others is like food for your soul. It will bring you joy and you will become addicted to that feeling.

Have a Higher Power
No matter what your background, belief system or religion. Have a higher power. You have to believe in something bigger than yourself. It allows you to surrender and lay your troubles down. Something’s are simply out of our control. Accepting that can bring serenity and comfort. When you feel calm and at peace it is easy to feel happy. It is also easier to see are problems more clearly leading to a better solution.

Read 1-5 and Practice Daily!

I hope the best life possible to all of you that read this. I know that the times we live in make it hard someday to even breathe. I am no different from anyone else. Some days my life looks like a train wreck. I often struggle to keep myself from rolling off the rails. I think we have to remind ourselves and each other of what is important. Happy people spread happiness. Be well and always pay it forward.

Have a great weekend

I AM A WOMAN OF CHANGE

In poetry, Uncategorized on March 28, 2014 at 5:25 pm

Fatty, bean poll, pushy, slut, loser, Airhead, know it all, troll stuck up Bitch. Heard too often, spoken to frequently.
Stereo types passed down and passed on to our daughter’s adults and children alike.
Somewhere in the USA a girl cry’s herself to sleep tonight.
Too bad so sad toughen up, sticks and stones we say.
Pushed and pulled by the media and each other to look, be and sound a certain way.
We can’t be too thin or to fat, too tall too short to white or to black.
Fit in, be perfect, and be cool no matter what it cost.
Do these things always, even if in doing that many lives are lost.
We starve, we binge, become addict or even cut.
Then we blame others for the problems we have set up.
We continue to petty and are mean spirited long into adulthood.
Stay at home vs. working Mom, bottle or breast, intellectual vs. pretty each side clamming to be the best.
Why not try supporting each other, building one another up not tearing each other down.
So you don’t like the game than change the dam the dam rules.
Stop being eating it up like, cattle following like sheep and acting like fools.
Be who you are without hurting anyone else.
Be confident and comfortable be fabulous, empathetic and bold.
Dark or light, big or small, straight or gay there is room for at the table for us all.
I make no apologies for who I am and neither should you.
Did I strike a never with this?
Are you offended?
Yak, I’m talking to you!
Good. Then maybe we can start talking.
Maybe can have an intelligent conversation and change the world for the good.
We are all beautiful and gifted in our own way.
Teach are young that who they are is better than ok.
Change your perception first, watch the message that you send.
Look out ourselves first.
Although they play a small part, don’t so fast to t blame the men.
Take a hard look ladies, it is us who teach our sons how to treat Women.
The young learn from example.
They watch what we say and do.
Look in the mirror first for change,
Real change starts with me and you!
